Be like a mangrove she said Les Brasseurs - art contemporain, Liège, 2020

Stubborn mangroves, scarred bodies, activist potatoes, fragmented identities, broken and repaired lives. For her first solo exhibition in Belgium, Katrin Ströbel conceives in-situ installation, drawings, videos and collages in which bodies and plants become erotical and poetical tools of resistance.
The artist invokes fragment organisms, vegetal or human, hybrid beings, in a permanent state of elasticity and transition. In Ströbel's works, non-normativity is never considered as a default but, on the opposite, as a force, a potential. In time of crisis, fragility and vulnerability become advantages. The fragment is more reliable than the entity - even more in a world cleft by cracks.
